I first got into pipes in 2021. I worked in Chambersburg, PA and for my birthday, my boss took me into Boswells to get some cigars. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the pipes. Everything about it, for the beauty of the pipes, the smell of the tobacco, the history.....I loved it all. About a month after my first visit, I was in the shop every day and before I knew it I had several Boswell pipes. I was in all of the Facebook groups and watched all of the videos on YouTube, as my wife will tell you when I get into something, I'm obsessed.

I went to my first pipe show in Columbus in 2023 and was enamored with all of the gorgeous pipes, the fellowship and just all the pipe world had to offer. As a wood turner, making bowls and such, I started making ashtrays, pens from briar and some tampers, anything I could do to be more a part of the community, as I enjoyed woodturning, I wanted to make something my fellow pipe smokers could enjoy. As part of my wood working, I also made pens and poured my own pen blanks. In late 2024, I realized that the blanks I was pouring could also be used for pipe stems, so I started making rods and selling to some pipe makers. I quickly found out there was more to it than that and while the resin I was using worked, it wasn't the best it could be. So again, another deep dive, researching, testing, I went through several differnt materials until I landed on what I now use and believe to be one of the highest quality materials available on the market and the response has been incredible.

Fast forward to 2025, I had dabbled with making my own pipe for a little bit, I would start one and let it sit, maybe come back to it later, I was just never happy with it. Then in late 2025, I decided I wanted to give it a real go. So I started really getting my shop set up for making pipes and I leaned on some fellow makers and great friendsk, their advice and tutelage have been priceless. This community of makers is amazing. The first week of January 2026, while in one of my friends shops, I made my first sellable pipe and the bug bit me, this is what I've wanted to do. Since then, I spend almost every spare minute I've got in the shop. Muletown 2026 was my first show selling instead of just browsing the tables and I loved it.
